Just went out to take my bike down the road to get some groceries and what i found when i got to my bike nearly made my heart sink all the way down to my toes... Someone knocked my F*%$ing bike over, rear left fender completely destroyed, left turn signal was smashed into the bike so now there is a big hole where that used to be and side is all scratched up....

Any advice about what to do next.... I already called ICBC to claim a possible hit and run. How much is a new left front and rear faring for a ninja 250?

Oh god... I feel so &^%$ing angry and sad... obviously someone did it and there is no note or anything so im pretty much F%$ed, ICBC said if they determine it to be a hit and run the deductible is $750, if they say it was vandalism then no coverage :'(

Call the NON EMERGENCY police number and file a hit and run report.
You will need a police file number when you deal with ICBC / hit and run scenario

Just called the non emergency police line, and they said because i don't have a suspect, that i just have to call ICBC and have them deal with it, and my current insurance provider is only ICBC, which is probably why it is a $750 deductible... friken ICBC

Sorry to hear about that. It really sucks. I understand your pain. That sweet little Skittle is going to be blemished...If ICBC doesn't pan out you can always fix it yourself though. Get some West System GFlex and some glass. Also some sandable filler for the epoxy. This will cost $50 bucks at most. Get some paint and paint it (also get clear coat). I have a compressor and a spray gun if you need help. So 100 bucks, a turn signal, a bottle of Ketel One, should get you right.

I can confirm that the deductible is $750. Some asshole raced backwards down my street, tried to reverse turn into my lane, and mashed the fuck out of my wife's vehicle a couple of years back. One of my neighbours witnessed the whole thing but was only able to get the first 2 letters of the plate, not enough for the police to investigate. The SOB caused over $2,000 damage: it's a very frustrating experience.

BTW, Peter is a very helpful guy; he's helped me with my bike quite a bit.

Wow, that definitively sounds like a feasible option peter ^__^ you just cheered my up a bit, thanks ^^ It just sucks thinking about having to suddenly spend at least $750 on repairs.. and right before Christmas.. It sounds like that is a definite possibility for where the turn signal is, but the left rear faring damage is pretty extensive, it was pretty much broken in half with bits and pieces broken off as well i'll have to look in the morning though to see if a self repair would be doable on that, i'm just glad the bastard at least put my bike back up right after they knocked it down....

I found that GFlex is great. Its a fibreglass resin that stays a bit flexible. You back the damaged area with Gflex and fiberglass - enough layers as appropriate. Then you mix GFlex with sandable filler for the crack repair afterwards. Sand smooth, prime, paint, clear. Happy to help if you need it. Good winter project. Of course, you can/should check Ebay for fairings too.

Looks like a new fairing from ebay will run me about $500 - $600, I'm heavily considering the do it yourself as a first choice and if that fails then i can always fork out the money and just buy one, but I think it can't hurt to try and salvage my original fairings, also might be fun to work on

Peter, where do you get the GFlex stuff? Marine supply shops?

I tried some 3M products that I got at Cdn Tire and despite following the directions as best I could, didn't get great results. I've always been happy with 3M stuff, so I assume it's newb error on my part.

Wow, that West Systems website has a LOT of really good info - I spent a couple hours there last night reading up.

Flame treating plastics as part of surface prep seems to be key to a really strong bond. And some great info on sanding media choices.

I'm still unsure whether the GFlex 650K kit (liquid) vs. the 655K kit (thickened) would be best. And in terms of filler, the #407 low-density looks like the better choice than #410 micro-light?

So who's fault is it that you didn't buy collision or comprehensive coverage? It must be ICBC based on your logic.

The only way you would have a $750 deductible is if you didn't buy collision coverage or if your collision coverage is $1000 or over. On hit and run claims, the deductible is always the lesser of $750 or your deductible.

Now you're accessing the hit and run that all BC motorists pay into. Must be ICBC's fault for that too
