I have a 2002 KX 125 and i was wondering if i should go with the suggested chain tension by the manual...i have a stock (12 tooth) front sproket and a non-stock (51 tooth) rear sproket. I set the bike up for what the manual suggested (60-70mm) of free play on the chain with the bike resting on the side stand, but it looks WAY to lose to me. Can anybody shed some light on my situation?

you need that slack in the chain, because when you sit on the bike and load the suspension while riding, it will tighten up a bit. if you made that chain tight while sitting static , it would put alot of stress on your chain, front sprocket bearing, and rear wheel bearing, as you ride the bike.

set the chain to what the specs say.....make sure the chain guide and swingarm blocks are in good shape....if you feel energetic you can pull out the shock and see how the chain tightens as it goes through it's travel...also have to consider dirt getting under the chain and making it tighter
