sorry if this is a repeat thread. im puting a new chain and sprockets on my bike soon. probably tonight. my one concern is that the original front sprocket has that rubber grommet, if thats correct, on it. and the after market does not. what is its purpose, vibration dampener? i noticed the chain does contact this piece. do most aftermarket chains come like this. i've seen on a couple race bikes where there is no rubber piece. i asume it may just chatter a bit. any help would be appreciated.thanks...

Sprocket

yah: My KTM Duke has a rubber backing on the stock front sprocket. The replacement aftermarket does not. Runs fine without the rubber.

just finished test riding after installing new sprockets and chain. runs smooth. figured thats what they were for. thanks...
