Is Eagle Mountain still open to riders? Looking for some beginner friendly trails as close as possible to downtown Van.

I think the closest place to Van is Mcnutt, maple ridge. It can be McNasty but you can also go there and ride more friendly trails. I took a buddy there last year, first dirt bike and first ride. He called me an asshole but thanks me for it now.

I just got back from riding at #8 road. Big Sandy area. Has changed lots. Big deep puddles. There was a truck in over its roof. Took 3 trucks to get it out. Good entertainment for the day.

I actually went out there for my inaugural dirt ride this morning, no crashes yet, but did realize that I forgot my trailer ramp out there once I got back home. I was riding solo this morning, but saw several bikes and quads out there when I went back to pick it up.

What area were you riding? I was at the end of Blundell and didn't see any puddles out there.

My wife and I picked our dirt bikes today, looking to break them (hopefully not us) in tomorrow.

Do you guys recommend Richmond, or head out to Chilliwack as per the Cattermole post?

We just wanted somewhere open to fart around and get used to the bikes, a wide open field to rip around at this point would be ideal

I parked at the very end of the train tracks. Rode all the way towards the buildings. The puddle is deceptively small but deep.

Cattermole/Peg is on the river bank/ beach so the dirt/sand is firmer. Pretty big area but a bit boring if you dont ride the practice track..

Richmond is a big open sandy preload area. Bit challenging if you havent ridden alot in loose sand.

Here you go...

keep an eye out at most bike shops for an events poster, think they are orange this year. They have every off road club and event on it.

There is a Trial coming up in Cultas lake this weekend, Newbie Dualsport and Practice at Agassi in Sept.

Maybe if you want to get a group together I would take you all for a ride one day? I hope to be doing more rides at Vedder now that things are cooling off.

These are a few of the clubs and shops that I get involved with.

If you want to do a ride at Vedder I'd be all over that...I need a trail guide.

And thank you for the updated links!

Here's the areas I know..

Logging roads?
Gott creek FSR (duffy lake area) will get to some nice viewpoints...
Yalakom Valley (northwest of Lillooet ~50kms) is another good place to spend a day on FSR's.
Bralorne area, logging roads all over the place

A little more technical stuff?
Molybdenite Creek off Texas Cr (20K south of lillooet on west side) will get you to 8000 ft and nice views, a rugged old mining road, not quite singletrack, but need to have the balls to open up the bike and give'r in a few spots

Della creek (30kms south of lillooet on west side), Not too hard to spend 6 hours riding around up there, there's a main road that's a little boring, but there's all sorts of logging roads from the '50's that are a lot more interesting, and they always cross the main road. Since it's really close to me I go up there quite often.

Botanie valley (north of Lytton), Never tried it but I've heard good things about it

Kwoiek creek, a good detour on the west side road from boston bar to lytton, Kwoiek has a good road to a lake, then some grown in old FSR's to a couple other lakes.. Hand guards not optional!

I Googled that 193 St/24 Ave spot. Looks like any of the obvious access points are beyond barricaded with concrete retaining blocks and built up vegetation. Also a sign from City of Surrey prohibiting self propelled vehicles inside so at least it's not private property.

Its still there

192 st and 32 ave Surrey

The sand pit is still there but commercial development is creeping.
THERE ARE SERVEY WOOD MARKERS all around this area DONT HIT THEM OR TAKE THEM OUT.
That really pisses off the owners!
There is some sandy areas and wooded areas.
The concrete barriers are moved most of the time.
There are 4x4 dudes there. RC guys there and dirt bikes.
RESPECT THE CONSTRUCTION and NO DUMPING.
Some dumb F*#KS are dumping garbage there.

***There are some spots with OPEN man holes be careful learn the area then go crazy**
I give this place a max of 5 more years if we respect it before it is closed down.
Cheers all
Mel
