hey guys
just wanted to confirm something.
i got home from a ride lastnight and noticed what looks like oil coming out of the top of my right fork. id didnt look like any oil iv seen, was grey and a little thin but it was coming out of the top bushing.
so im pretty sure the seal is gone, sound about right?
any rough ideas how much of a cost it is to get seals replaced and (fork) oil changed while im at it?
thanks

I'v had that done so many times.
May as well do them both at the same time.
Don't rember how much, but the last time the mechanic said I need to have
the valving cleaned.
So it's in for other stuff,so do it, get it done.
I rember that service cost me $1100.oo
Bike still ran like crap but that front end never felt so good.
Call a shop they can price it for you.....

Sure sounds like a blown fork seal. If its your '88 CBR don't be surprised.

Not sure about the cost of the innards of your forks but be wary when you go into a shop. The insides might be worn out a bit and they may suggest redoing your forks which if you have a bottomless pit of money is OK. Fork seals with labour are going to run you a few hundred bucks. If they redo the forks it will be over a grand.

I had a similar situation in an older bike and opted to just have the seals redone.

Just a warning.

If they are the same size fork tubes and the same seals as on my track bike then the parts were about $60 as I recall plus 20 for oil and a couple of hours of my time to change them. The forks don't need to come apart completley to do them. But you do need to take apart the front end.

If you can't do it yourself and get a shop to do them then $200'ish sounds about right for parts and time.

Fork seals

Hi
My name is Rod with RMR Suspensions in Abbotsford. This is what I do for a living. The price for seals is $90.00 plus seals ($15.00 - $18.00 ) and maybe bushings 2 inner and 2 outer. They run about $20.00 - $25.00 ea. Usually it is the outer set that is gone. The price for R&R is $35.00. So you are looking at around $200.00 plus tax.
