If I met a girl now who was fine with me riding until we got married.. then decided it was over.. she'd be out the door. this is of course assuming i wasnt being stupid and ignoring this issue for years - i probably wouldnt marry someone like this in the first place.

however.. if you've been married for 5-50 years and start riding when that person is against it.... thats a bit less of a clearcut line for me.

From a wife/girls point of view...

Ultimatums in general are pretty scary. If you stick with a girl who is telling you that you can't ride and you give in, then soon enough she'll be pulling the same controlling crap to get you to marry her ( "buy me a ring or else" ) or start giving her kids, or let her go shopping with your credit card.

Yeah...not good.

Unless your spending 24/7 on your bike and not fulfilling your side of the relationship, or are spending all her money on your riding habit, I'd highly suggest ditching the chick and meeting someone a little less controlling and selfish.

I wouldn't marry someone who would give ultimatums. That said, the satisfaction I get from being married to my wife rules over bikes. Thankfully I don't have to chose.

If any g/f ever gave me this kind of decision, they'd have been out the door.

You can say this because you have one of the coolest wives in the world Kent. Not only does she let you ride, she rides AND to top it off, she's preggers with baby number 2 and still a complete hottie.

oops i didn't really get the question..... i chose girlfriend. I thought the question was saying if i could choose one at that moment and destroy the other, which one would i take

my reason is..... girlfriend is the love of ur life..... bike is just a toy that fulfills our passion.
both love and passioin can never be destroyed.... even if our bikes are gone... that doesn't change a thing, we are still bikers with or without our bikes.... bikes can be replaced

2 things: if you don't have a bike, you are not a biker. i don't care if you've owned bikes in the past or you are getting one in the future- a bikeless being is not a biker. secondly, most bikes can be replaced but some cannot. some bikes tell a story too good to get rid of while others have simply been turned into something that cannot be sold. a real biker knows these 2 rules that come under subsection 3.14 and 7.54(a) of the bikers manual. guess you didn't get yours in the mail? oh and as far as the significant other part goes- just find a chick that rides or is willing to learn. people that don't ride usually suck and therefore have no bearing on my life.
