Hi everyone, I know this really isn’t bike related in any way, but I know a lot of you are into supporting good causes. So here’s my plea:
On August 18-20, 2006 I'll be participating in a very special event called The Weekend to End Breast Cancer.
I'll walk 60 kilometres over the course of one weekend with thousands of other women and men. The net proceeds will support breast cancer research, treatment, and services through the BC Cancer Foundation.
I've agreed to raise at least $2,000, but I've set my personal goal at $3,500. So, yes, this is a request for emotional and financial support. I need your help. All I’m asking is a dollar for every kilometer walked! Any amount of donation, big or small, would be greatly appreciated. The BC Cancer Foundation will send you a tax receipt for any donation over $10.
You can donate online at: http://www.endcancer.ca/site/TR?px=1093959&pg=personal&fr_id=1110
If that link doesn’t wok then: www.endcancer.ca . When you log onto the website, click on the word Donate in the left hand column. Then it will ask you participant information:
Dana-Jean Ingram, # 300807-4, Team Name: Tsawwassen RWB’s
It’s very secure and easy.
Or you can print off the donation form from my personal page and mail it into the BC Cancer Foundation.
According to the National Cancer Institute of Canada, approximately 20,500 Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and about 5,400 will die from the disease. That's why I'm walking so far. Breast cancer has not only affected many families but it has affected me in a very personal way. My great grandmother died of the disease and at the age of forty, my own mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Happily, thirteen years later, my mom is still cancer free and it’s with that in mind I made my decision to commit to this event. I hope that you'll share this incredible adventure with me - by supporting me in my fundraising efforts.
Thank you in advance for your generosity!
Sincerely,
Dana-Jean Ingram
PS: feel free to email, message, or MSN any questions you may have!
