I have the Icon Mil-spec vest and I dig it. I'll take it with me on most rides and put it on if it's starts to get dark out - maybe an hour before dusk.

My bike is all black and my gear is all black.

The beauty of the Icon vest is that drivers think you're a cop at a glance and will move out of your way, especially if you're lane splitting.

Also, the vest has a couple of handy pockets for stashing stuff like credit cards, cell phone or other items you'd like to have access to without digging in to your jacket.
Vis-vests are for construction workers and the determined old guy who rides his motorized wheel chair down Broadway to the grocery store.. You guys should get rotary lights to put on top of your helmets as well. Get a grip!

damn those are nice
my mom doesn't let me go out after dark.
No, I try to make sure I turn off ALL the lights on my flat black bike and only wear dark clothing when I ride at night. It makes me feel invisible!
I wear a high viz jacket over my gear in the rain and most of the time at night.

-and yeah I've noticed cagers slowing down thinking I'm a cop; just have watch that they don't hammer the brakes when they see you in the rear view mirror. Was once waved through the border while wearing my jacket -wondered what that was about until I found there was a funeral for a cop in Seattle later that day.
i like that icon vest. i may just have to pick one of those up. i like the idea of cagers getting outta my way :)

where can I get one of those vests for a decent price ?

online or locally ?

thanks
The vest was Jedi mind magic on fireworks night. even the cops thought I was a firework official or something. I got waved through at every checkpoint, no questions asked.

Don't knock the vest until you've tried it. It's pretty smart. All drivers are conditioned to keep an eye out for florescent yellow or orange.

i just checked on google. can be had from many places online, looks to be about 55 US. not sure about locally but i'm sure any store that carries icon gear can get you one

Now you guys are gonna confuse me with the popo!!!! :surrender :surrender
I have the orange Icon regular one and it feels satiny... but it tends to "parachute" at highway speeds. I also have the mesh yellow one which doesn't have that problem and is much more comfortable on hot days. I'm sure the yellow one is also more visible.

Wearing either one, I can definately tell that drivers see me.

They come in two sizes: regular - for sizes small to X-large, and XXL to XXXXL.
http://www.safetygeardepot.com/ has em for 40 bucks. Shipping to canada is 3 bucks by the look of it ...
