im having a debate with a friend. and he says that its impossible to do a smoke show and burn an entire tire off in 10 min or less. i think its totaly duable. i searched for burnout vids but you can never tell what condition the tire was in before the burnout. im thinking a brand new tire would be gone in les then 10 min if the guy wanted it to be. i mean really, if you take a new litre bike and block the front wheel, should be able to rev the shit out of the bike, and rubber only lasts so long at 100k a hour standing still.

what do you guys think/know?

If you block of the front tire and start to go through all 5 or 6 gears your tire is goinng to be spinning at around 200kmh, thats damn fast. It should burn up pretty fast.

block the front tire ? what for ? ,thats why bike have brakes

unless its a hardly with a tiny brake or some old ass bike ,BIkes have plenty of brakes to keep it from moving going through all six gears.Once it breaks loose it aint going anywhere anyway .

id say about 2 and a half min tops before it blows

IT might last 10 minutes or more. It takes a long time to blow a tire. Even if the threads are showing you still can get another 2 minutes. There's no way in hell you could blow a new tire in under 2 minutes.

The way you guys are trying to do it I'd say it could go to 10 minutes. If the tire is spinning to fast it creates a slick surface and doesn't tear the rubber away to quick. At 3/4 throttle or a bit less the tire chunks out quicker.

This makes me happy. Not only did you spell "brakes" correctly, you even used "breaks" in the same paragraph.

You guys can learn from this!

How are you planning to smoke that shit? Gonna roll it or put it in a pipe?

Either way, it's a lot of tire. You'll need more than 10 minutes.

I borrowed a bike for the burn out contest at Laguna Seca many years ago, and took a brand new Metz. right down to the cords in about 6-7 min. on a XS650 I think. First gear and 8 grand.
If you were there, I was the guy in the gorilla suit. I got second.

I do burn nearly every tire i'm gona change just cause it's fun and you need to practice your circle burnouts and stuff....like i'm not that wealthy or stupid to smoke off a good tire......they are always more than 1/2 worn and between myself and the Squid we can have a lot of fun before they pop...so i'm guessing that a new tire will easily take 10 min. .....just a note do not pop the tire if you can avoid it...it becomes a bitch to get the bead off with no middle in the tire...then the zip wheel needs to be deployed....
