One of my clients is an old friend who happens to own a Suzuki dealer in the states. In the spring I asked him about a DRZ400SM he said we have no market for SMs here so if I wanted one he'd order it for me and give it to me at cost, plus tax, and reg. Well the other day Suzuki just dropped one off for him and he has no use for it so he called me in. Its an 07 black. He said he owes me 2200 from advertising co op so I said can I use that on the bike? He said ya its your money. The kicker is the money hasn't been sent from Suzuki, but the bike is mine. What kills me is I was hopin to get it this week, but it started raining today with a chance of snow. So if I did buy it I cant ride it anyways. Gheysauce. So im almost there. HAHAHAH But the bike is $5700 OTD for a new 07 DRZ. If I dont think it has enough power I will just sell it and buy something different, but I think its going to be a good starter SM.

Pre order a 440 big bore kit, Yosh pipe and jet kit and you should be happy with it.
How much for the 440, who makes it? Im looking for pipes, jet kits, and other mods like headlight, smaller signals, new tailight, hand guards, etc. This will be my winter project

Welcome

Sweet...
Good Deal really
There is lots you can do to the drz to make it better so if you are not happy with it when you start riding it look around and do some mods.
If the big bore is too much $$$ to start with there are other options

Ask Gas about my DRZ and then if you are interested I might make public some of my mods.....

<place evil laugh here>

:cheers

Keep it simple. FCR carb (in high demand so not cheap) and new exhuast. Some jetting and call it good. Spend the money you save on the mods with taking an American Supercamp class and then take a motard camp from someone. Supercamp is a BLAST and really teaches you a ton about getting comfy with sliding around on a bike. And since they are just XR100's you don't have far to fall when it comes. But you'll also walk (or limp :D) away with a whole new respect for what a piddly little XR100 can do.

I know you always said that a riding school of this sort wasn't your glass o' beer but if you don't do THIS one you'll kick yourself. I'm as tight as they come about this sort of stuff but I'd gladly go back for a second class if I can swing it. It was THAT much fun.

Bump, money came in, picking it up or having it delivered tomorrow! Finally joined the darkside.... well we'll see tomorrow I guess.

It did snow but it all melted, now its just fucking cold out, so I will see if they can drop it off so I dont have to freeze my ass off riding it to my work. :D

Acerbis supermoto fender and blitz headlight are on order. Im going to order handguards, jet kit, exhaust, fender elim, smaller signals, etc over the winter. should be fun

I can't believe you live in the States and not go after an Aprilia SXV 550.

Have fun with the DRZ SM.
WOOT Im on the darkside! They just dropped off the bike to my work.

I didn't want to spend a ton, I got this one for cost. I've never had an SM and im sure it wont be my last one, theres time.

SS Ive kinda researched that carb mod on smjunkies but now that the bike was delivered I'll look into it more now.
