Journey to the Dragon

Four of us are currently riding to Deals Gap (aka The Dragon), Eric (VictorEric), Michael (Mutate Now!), Mark (FJR EH), and myself. There was a 5th, Chuck (CounterStrike) but he only planned on riding with us for a couple of days and turned around after Yellowstone. We're currently in Albert Lea, Minneapolis.

We headed out on Sept 1st but we've been having too much fun and been riding long days to post. Today is Day 5 of our trip and we just checked in to our hotel. We're all bagged right now so we'll have to post details of our trip later. I will say I've ridden the best roads I've ever ridden on so far.

Stay tuned....

Remember, there is heavy enforcement there. Don't even bother trying to speed. Enjoy the scenery. :rider
Trip !!!!

Hope The Bike is running well after the Big service we did on your Bike , Sound's like it's a good trip so far :flashy

lol, I really hope you guys know what you are in for. That is a LONG ways away.
don't forget to strike a pose for Killboy.com :)
Stan/Eric/Michael:

Looking forward to your pictures and stories. How's Michael doing on the GSXR, that pinnacle of all sport tourers?
Fantastik! That trip is on my list. Have fun!!!
Have fun boys - post up when you get back. Enjoy the ride and get home safe.
That is one area that should be on every serious motorcycle enthusiasts' list of rides to do. I met a fellow rider at Mt.St.Helen's who videos people doing the Dragon just about every weekend, and he loves it. Have a wonderful time, keep the rubber side down, and I look forward to your report (not that you have to do one, mind you, lol).
Nice!!! Mark told me about this... What a trip. I hope the weather is great and the roads are even better. Keep us updated and a FULL ride report is expected when you get back.

Oh! I feel for Micheal on the GSXR over 9000 KM. Especially when most of the other guys are riding tourers VFR, FJR.

Have a blast guys and I hope the weather holds.
its gotta be a great ride down there.. though i dont think i'd enjoy the scenery w/ all them cherries in the tree lines!! geez, get a freakin' life eh!??:eek
Stan / Mark / Eric / Michael...

Wishing you the best of times... Just couldn't get the time off for this ride.
There's definitely next year... keep the routes programmed on the GPS...
Would be awesome to repeat this adventure once over.
Cheers all...

We arrived in Chicago yesterday in the middle of rush hour no less. :surrender and finally hit some rain. We spent today in Chicago taking up the architectural history and taking a much needed rest. We'll be heading out tomorrow morning to continue our journey to the Dragon.

Bike is running great...THANKS!!!
Day 1

The plan was for Eric, Michael, and Chuck to meet at my house and leave at 7am for the border. Mark had to work the morning and was going to leave later and catch up with us. He has Nexus so that'll help save time. As it turns out somebody was late and we didn't until 8am. We headed for the Sumas border, knowing that the Peach Arch lineup was 90 min long.

When we got to Sumas the lineup was probably a good 90 minutes also. We decided to head to Osoyoos and cross there. On the way through Manning Park we saw a Honda RC51 on fire. Based on what we saw the RC51 failed to negotiate the left hander and had a meeting with the wall. The rider was ok but the bike went up in smokes. We got to the Princeton Chevron at 11:30 and bumped into St. Nick and his croonies.

We got to Osoyoos around 1pm, had lunch and proceeded for the border. We got to Grand Coulee Dam at 4:30pm, took some pics. We arrived at Lewiston, Idaho at 9:30pm

Overall not an eventful day from a riding perspective. Just getting to destination.

Total distance travelled: 887 kms

I think you'll want to check this thread. Rider is OK :)

Have a safe trip guys. I think Michael will be a-OK on his bike unless he's driving in slow traffic. I want to hear an in-depth story on what's gone down in Deal's Gap. I have a hunch the enforcement has calmed down now that it is September.
