What the hell is going on in this city? I remember snow being a rarity here when I was a kid...heck, even a couple of years ago!

That being said, had to stop at the Honda Centre on 1st to get some proper warm gloves on the way home. Very nice folks there. They didn't even give me a hard time for showing up at a Honda dealership with a Kwak ;)

Oh and I was glad to see I wasn't the only one out today, there was a Bandit parked next to me when I came out of Brentwood mall. (even though I did my best to hog the whole spot)

I know, I just came back from riding in the snow. I'm parking her in the garage. It's the bus for me. I'll ride all year except when it snows...

i considered riding to coal harbour today. so glad i didn't. it was brutal downtown. 15 mins to get from coal harbour to harbour centre. 8 mins to get thru the connector. hell, 2 mins to get thru a 4 way stop because two non driving dolts decide to play kissy-cars.

with the stones playing, and isn't there a hockey game too? it's going to be a nitemare downtown tonite.

When I was a kid(I'm 36, so mid- late 70's), you could skate on lost lagoon every winter, and on some farmers fields in Cloverdale where I grew up. I remember it being colder in general than it is now.

wasn't it 97 when the snow was about 4-6 feet high about mid december?
Yeah, I was on my way to dig my car out after that snow fall when I came across a BOBCAT stuck in the snow, but even that didn't last long. For ice to get thick enough to skate on, I'm guessing it has to be cold for at least a couple of weeks straight, if not more.

I am still riding in this year.
When I was watching snow from my room, I started to think " it's time to keep my bike in the garage?? " Well I hope not... as long as not snowing I will keep riding.
I really hope NO MORE SNOW.......... PLEASE!!!!!!

global warming doesn't mean it gets warmer everywhere - our portion of it is warmer average temperatures and more precipitation.

Arctic outflow and snow warning tonight - up to 30cm of snow in the Vancouver area tomorrow.

I think my bike will stay in the garage.

:cool Um, for a little balance...

I'm in AB at the moment. It's -26 and blizzarding outside as I type. I knew it might be a bumpy week when my plane skidded sideways on touch-down. :eek It was a balmy -17 that day. Since then: snow storms, ice-packed hwys, nasty cross-winds, cars & trucks flipped-over along the hwy median and fender-benders everywhere. No fun. :rolleyes

I think there might be something to this 'global warming' thing. [Ya think? :D] I grew up in Nova Scotia where winters were ...snowy. Now everybody's selling their snowmobiles cuz they get so little snow. When I moved to BC in 1982, snow was rare... but not so rare anymore. Looking forward, I think it's time to buy ocean-front property. In Saskatchewan. :)
