Leather Gear for Tall Riders....

1363 Views 13 Replies 12 Participants Last post by  Rick's wife
Just looking for sources for leather jackets/pants or one-piece suits in tall sizes. I'm 44-Tall. Textile is easy enough to get, but leather in tall sizes...not so much.

Thanks!

How about getting a custom suit made for you at PSI?? Head out to the track next weekend & you'll see about 1/2 the racers out there in PSI suits... check out: http://www.psihubik.cz/

Tom Hill is the local distributor... if you want more details PM me.

I think we are both screwed :surrender

This is not a sport for the tall... or the heavier-than-average. That's what custom suits are for. The further you are from 5-7 170, the less well "sportbike" works.
hey squire.. your team aftica racing link is broken... too many periods in the link
44 tall means nothing in the world of motorcycle gear... (really)... How tall are you in inches?

If yer taller than 6' or possibly 6'1" yer screwed... that's where the leather makers stop making off the rack and you have to go for custom... other option is to find the tallest possible fitting leathers and then get them altered...

Original leather factory off boundary is the only leather shop in vancouver I would trust... everyone else has destroyed my stuff over the years, including ace of suades (off venables) who literally trashed a brand new vanson jacket.. they ended up paying like $600 for it to be sent back to vanson to be rebuilt... total clowns... Anyways... dont be fooled by all the tassled leather shit at the original leather factory.. they've been making and altering racing leathers for years... they'lll do it properly and it will actually be SAFE to use on the street or track..

oh.. only other prob is that as most suits get taller, they get fatter... good luck! I've never found anything off the rack that fits me, and it isnt for the lack of trying!

I have the same problem, I am 6'2" 210 lbs. I have found a few suits that fit. Joe Rocket GPX 2 pc size 48 (58 Euro) seemed to fit the best. I tried on an A* suit as well, also size 48, and it fit well, although the pants were a little big. Biggest problem I've had is that most shops don't carry the larger sizes, so they have to bring them in...which they want you to pay for. So I have to pay a deposit to bring in a suit just to try it on?
I am 6'2" 210 lbs. I get EVERYTHING tailored/custom made. It is the only way to go.

The PSI suits are reasonably priced as well. You just can't beat something that is made to fit you.

I have a 46 sized JR GPX suit and it fits fine. The sleeves and pants are a little short but that is where the gloves and boots come in. My next suit will definitely be a PSI suit.

Tom will take care of you. Make sure you head out to Mission on the weekend to see what PSI can do for you - it's amazing the work that they do (I'm amazed by how intricate the leather work is on my suit). These suits are VERY well made. You can choose kangaroo or cowhide too for very little difference in cost.

works just fine for me
im 6'3 190. for just a leather jacket, i found that icon makes some that are longer then most others. the neo daytona jacket fits very well. as for a 2 piece suit...i have a tecnics 2 pc size 46 and it fits well also.
joe... you need to get the closest fit and then take it in to the leather facotry guys and ask if they can alter it... a few dealers have let me take suits on deposit to the leather factory guys to see if they could alter it... they said no on several of them... I currently have an IXS suit which isnt all that great, but they've made it fit me (which is great)
Guess custom is the only way for me... 6'3 225lbs. I was hoping for a cheaper suit seeing as I'm not made of money. Oh well.
i am 6ft 2 , 215 to 220 . i bought the rs taichi two piece suit it was a size 46 us. the jacket fit perfect, the pants fit great in length, but were baggy on the ass. as mentioned by fish antlers, i too took it in to get altered at a leather shop, and now the pants are great. whatever suit you buy, make sure the hard armour all fits in place when you are sitting on a bike.
Rick was 6ft4 and 230lbs and fit really well in his 2 piece alpinestars. Maybe try those ????
