Are there legal venues where one can stunt? Or does this need to be arranged with the owner of some property? Waivers and such signed?

I remember when I was working DT, 3 years back, and would take the skytrain home on occasion, there was a fella who would wheelie and stoppie (really? stoppie? it's an endo...) in the parking lot between Science World and the Casino.

I am interested in learning how to stunt for my own enjoyment, though not on the CBR250R since it isn't torquey enough. Though, I probably don't know enough yet. Since I can wheelie and endo on my other me-propelled bike and that definitely doesn't have the same weight to power ratio but I am not even 1/8th as strong as the little Honda engine... That, and I don't have a roll cage installed on it so it would just be silly of me right now to crush an ankle or worse.

Anyways, I am rambling and haven't even learned to blip on a downshift properly. So much to learn, and I already am dreaming of next year when I trade up to a more low end torquey machine.

It's technically illegal for your ass to leave your seat. (Unless I'm mistaken)
Sometimes I'll stand up on the pegs to be a rebel. Weeeeow

... as long as the MVA applies where you are.

Go on private property (like a privately owned parking lot), get permission from the owners and you're good to go.

Or don't... and just wait until they kick you off.... If ever.

Also, a 250 is plenty of bike for stunting. Just look it up on YouTube.

I think they repealed that part of the act..but not positive.
Dirt bikes are good to learn wheelies on.
Pretty sure you could wheelie a cbr 250 if you try hard enough.

If you are on private property that has no barrier between it and a public road it is still by definition a "roadway" according to the MVA and you could be charged and impounded by an overzealous officer.

As long as there is a gate between the area you are stunting and any public road you should be immune from the funbusters.

sprockets will make it as torquey as you need it to be
just look at the rear sprocket on any stunt bike
its damn near big as the wheel

There is no such thing as a legal stunt spot. You can get someones permission to ride on their property though, it is still not legal. If you sign a waiver then its usually to cover their ass not yours. As long as you arent causing a disturbance the popo won't bother you after they find out you have permission.

Thank you for all the wonderful and constructive input. Definitely lots more worth researching on, with angles I hadn't considered. Glad I asked!

If you want to stunt, I'd suggest you get some decent bike handling skills first. If you are still working on "blipping" the throttle to downshift... you are probably a ways away from clutching up a front wheel.

And when you are ready, buy a bike setup for stunting... rather than beating your current bike to shit.

get a 600, make it naked, install larger sprocket, cage it, and get a 12 oclock bar...later on you can hammer in the tank or buy one thats already done. This is NOT a cheap hobby, if you think you can go stunt whenever you want you're wrong. You will be fixing it after almost every session or you are not trying hard enough....and start collecting back tire take offs now, you're gonna need them.

Got any suggestions on what size/bike that may be?
F4i & 636 are always solid bets. They've both been around for a while and a lot have been converted so there's a good chance over the winter you'll see one for sale. Good stunt parts availability.
