Mount Baker Hwy

Well y'all - now that I can go across the border again, I ventured out for a Baker road rip ... and was, truth be told, sorely disappointed. The road from Sumas to the base of the ski area mountain wasn't all that bad, but definitely is a bit rougher than a few yrs ago. However, from the works station at the base of the climb up ... all the way to the ski area parking lot at the (current) top .... the road surface quality is absolute shite!! Broken pavement, poorly patched (in longitudinal) sections, crumbling surfaces, sink-holes and more.
Not worth riding on, with a sport-bike.

I’ve noticed general infrastructure has fallen a lot in WA State since I started crossing down there mid 2022. Part of the slow implosion of western society starts at the most basic things, like roads.
Of course you could get a modern ADV with 180hp and just float over the shitty roads,,,,,,
yes - I do believe you've read the anti-progress infecting the western world correctly (threshold function/cascade event - the Great Collapse?): good is bad/bad is good; men can be women/and women can choose to 'be' men) ... on and on it accelerates!!

nope - ADV is not quite the same.

I
Know ADV is not the same, not even close. Full respect for the modern superbike. I suffer from 40+ yrs of hockey, and 26 yrs of club tournament racquetball, knees are truly fucked. An hour doing backroads on my antique RC30 and I’ve got to go see my doctor. So an adv it is for my future.
I still seem to grind my boots sides off just as often, but can walk after 8 hours riding.
