I moved to L.A. in 1994. Lasted about two weeks. Got robbed twice and almost had my throat cut in that short period. Hope it works out better for ya but be vigilent. They can smell a foreigner from a mile away and then it's open season.

your gonna be one of the 200,000 canadians livin in California. Is this perminant? new job there, just want some endless sunshine? you could ride through Yakima, through oregon, past crater lake, and end up in Medford. still gonna be 12-13 hour ride though.

Coastal Oregon is OK, but coastal California is better.

Make sure you've checked with customs (on both sides) about any paper work that needs to be taken care of to take your bike with you when you move.

2 days to get to LA is a bit (way to) ambitious. Why the rush? If you are moving to LA you gotta have cash. A hotel room is $40 to $60 a night at this time of year. Closer to $40 a night in the smaller towns. Gas is cheap. Food is stoopid cheap.

You'll be a wreck when you arrive and hate yourself for doing the I-5 all the way there.

2 days to LA on the I-5 on an f4i is crazy talk.

Take 4 days on the 101 for a more enjoyable ride.

1st day to Astoria, OR
2nd day to Crescent City, CA
3rd day cut over to HWY1 at Leggit and down to San Fran.
4th day 101 to L.A.

As Heisenberg said, gas, food and lodgings are cheap after labour day.

Congrats on moving to LA but...

Way too ambitious to try to make it in 2 days for sure

SoCal is heaven for bikers, try LosAngeles Crest Hwy or Mullholand Drive West of the 405.
LA is a great city, less crime than in Vancouver, drivers who how to drive, plenty of well paying jobs, a good work ethic and....and...
enough said I moving back there as soon as I can.

Or do the Fear & Loathing route if the coast is in a fog bank which it very well could be at this time of year. That route would have you going through the interior cutting through the Napa Valley, through the Sierra Foothills or Tahoe/Reno then to Yosemite, then Sequoia Nat. Park to Palm Springs, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon then back through Palm Springs, through Pasedena to LA.

Take advantage of the stuff when you ride down. May not have the opportunity to do it for a while. Shame to blow a trip down there in haste.

I agree with those that say avoid the I-5 and enjoy the wonderful trip the 101 can be.

To just burn away your rubber with nothing to tell would be a shame and a waste of a great opertunity to have a fantastic ride.

Unless of course you only have 2 days... then ya- you can do it. It will be hell but you can do it.

it was in may and sunny as hell, but once u hit the mountains, cars were showered with snow.
