Matt Oxley at motorsportmagazine.com has superb experience and perception. I found his latest ruminations about rider development in GP racing particularly incisive, as you might agree if you read the article. An especially insightful section comes right towards the end, where John Hopkins spouts forth on the need for cheap, but super-stiff, fully equipped, small displacement race bikes - otherwise, young riders don't learn on equipment that gives them any idea whatsoever of how to find the limits of a 'real' machine if and when they make the step up.

( Who'd have thought that "sport bikes" - as in street-certified sport / supersport bikes - are "too flexy"... but that's the racer's view! )
