Hey, I'm looking at an 02 r6 rebuild(cosmetic). It was rebuilt in 04 and the owner has not driven it much (maybe 200kms in 2 yrs.). It had an oil change at the the time of the rebuild but nothing till now. The bike looks awsome on the outside. Really clean all over, it only has 10k kms . What should I look for? Would there be any seal damage? What would you offer for an awsome looking bike with this kind of history? 5500? less?

Thanks guys.

be careful with R6's from 99 - 02, i bought a rebuild 01 with 25K and it had second gear issues but i knew what i was getting. It would pop out of second gear on high RPM's but It didnt bother me to much because i paid only $4800 for the bike but it did get a tad annoying having to shift quickly out of second. Now on the other hand i've talked to a lot of people who have never heard of this problem that own the same bike.
Anyways check out this link:

I hope this helps your decision out, not trying to scare you but beware!:rockon

Ummm... I have nothing against rebuilds (I have bought them myself).. but winter pricing now, and the fact it is a rebuild I would be looking for 5G's or less. And I also have a buddy with a 99, and it has the 2nd gear issues as well, and he's on his 2nd motor....

before you make any offers call Kevin @ baysideperformace, he will meet you at the sellers house and inspect the shit out of that bike. I think he charges about $50 possible $75. definetly worth it. And if you end up buying the bike he'll have any aftermarket accessory you need for an excellent price.
He has the best service i've ever experienced

Took another look at the bike today and got an older buddy of mine to ride it,
