:laughing Well, just found out first hand that highsides aren't fun!!
Well, not really a highside. I was cutting through a recently closed road by my place that i take everyday as a bit of a shortcut. There's speedhumps all along this road that were used to deter speeding when it was open, and now that its closed i use it as a short adrenaline rush and homemade set of whoops and jumps before i come home. So i was burning along like i always do, havent ridden the road since the storm. It figures, but there's one dead streetlight on the whole street, and a large tree decided to fall over the road at that exact spot. I didn't see it until late, wondering in my head why i couldn't see the next speedhump, then i realized oh crap there's a 6" diameter tree in my way! i got on the brakes as hard as i could, was probably doing 80~90 at the time, but hit all the dead crap that had blown into the street and came out of it with the front wheek in a skid. Had the sense to stand up and let go of the bars at the last second and hit the tree, and did a slow cartwheel in the air landing on my back and left forearm. No real injuries to me... maybe broke a finger (this is taking forever to type!) and think my knees hit the bars on the way over, and lucky i ride an enduro because the bike is ok but will need new bars and mirrors and well, probably more but i didnt check too thoroughly
rode it home though. Besty part is that i hit the tree with enough force to blow it into three pieces! Nailed it in the centre which exploded the centre section outwards... should be some interesting pics in the morning when its light outside.
Sooo, moral of the story is accidents happen precisely 2 blocks from your house, don't swerve around road closure signs, and mother nature will kick your ass just because it feels like it.
