I just bought a new Arai helmet from www.helmetharbor.com. My total cost was $631. No duty or GST was charged. RMS has the same helmet for $980 + GST = $1048.

It pays to shop around. :cool

Update: The $980 price was from the RMS web site. In the store, they are asking $1048 + GST!

Crap, I spoke too soon. I got a letter in the mail from a customs broker demanding money.

They want:

$33.40 GST
$35.79 PST
$28.50 Brokerage fee
$2.00 GST on the Brokerage fee
$4.50 GST Disbursement fee
$0.32 GST on the GST Disbursement fee

Total: $104.51

GST: I don't like it, but I'll pay it.
PST: Aren't helmets PST exempt?
Brokerage fee: I never asked for the brokerage service, and $28.50 seems excessive.
GST Disbursement fee: What the heck is that?
GST on the GST Disbursement fee: This just does not sound right!

I haven't yet decide what I'm going to do about this.
