I was reading the paper today at lunch and got to thinking. Is organized crime a legitimate career choice now? I mean all I ever read about is this gang or that ‘organization’ getting off on yet another charge. Then I see these people in their 10 million dollar homes in their expensive vehicles.

Organized crime is in fact glorified these days, to the point of making the honest man such as myself seem stupid for working to get ahead. I find it endlessly frustrating that I am working away, investing what I have left and hoping to be free and clear before 55.

This makes me wonder. Why don’t career counselors in schools start advising kids that they really have TWO choices. They can either go off and drop 50 thousand dollars on a advanced education, or go and get involved in organized crime and make umpteen times the amount they would make working like the average schmo. I mean this is now a legitimate option! The risks are really not that high if you think about it, you may get caught get slapped on the wrist with a fine, which you end up paying with the cash in your pocket.

Is organized crime a legitimate vocation now?

(sorry for the rant, just came to mind.)

Who are the dumb ones?

Me and you Adam. These guys even if they are caught plead down to nothing and never see the inside of a jail cell.

You living in Abbotsford, obviously see the Hummers the spinners on them, Lamborginis, Ferraris. Who can afford that? Friggen doctors cant.

Cops know these guys by name, but are too afraid to arrest them.

Its damn frustrating. Bustin your ass, paying taxes, and not getting much to show for it.

oh no, you're not very far off.
I've known people who work full time jobs, then go home and cultivate their crops-small time 150-200 plants..
they sell them to the dealer, he does the rest.
The philosophy is 'I get cought once, then I quit'

It's evil it's stupid and shortsighted. Short time gain for long term pain.

That said, I don't understand why nowadays dope smokers don't just grow a plant or two in their homes?
that would at least diminish the organised crime side of it a little..
Most of it goes south of hte border, so US would have to smarten up too, but THAT would literally be the end of it.

Reminds me of a time we arrested three young males who had aboput 200 seedlings in the back of their 5 ton cube truck

They knew the system all right, in fact when they were sitting on the side of the road in hand cuffs they were joking about the whole affair...."thank God were in Canada eh?, Ill see you guys at the bar tomorrow".... they knew that nothing much would become of this.

Welcome to BC. The wild west. The further east you go, the less lieniently the criminal code is viewed.

When I was in the dotcom industry working. The owners were making cash by the truckload and it was legitimate. Make thumbnail porn galleries. The money is made by the traffic they generate and then to the sites that pay. It is mind boggling the amount of times sign up to the same stupid porn just on different sites.

If want the big cash get into the porn website industry. It is not quite as shady as the "other" industries.

Or you can not spend a dime, get a job at a decent restaurant as a waiter/waitress, and make 40 bucks an hour.

Or make 1 delivery a week and $10g a month cash?
See thats what gets me. It's just really sad when I am going about things the honest way then see someone breaking the law and seeing the rewards. It makes you ask yourself what is MY payoff for being honest, aside from the criminal record upon being caught. A clean concious I guess? It just seems so damn acceptable these days, even coveted to be involved in organized crime. It makes me sick when I hear people talking with such envy about other people they know making 50G's a month by breaking the law! With envy they speak about these people. Oh well, I guess I just have morals which I am sure I will be punished for in the end. sigh.

I don't know if they will 'pay'. Plenty of them retire rich. While I do not condone most of criminal activities, I do not beleive that drugs should be criminalized. This only contributes to the social problem it is, and makes criminals rich.

If drugs were legalized and taxed out the ass, kinda like smokes, you would see lot less of these guys profiting.

Also, I dont do drugs mmmkay.

had a buddy try this. his end was creating all these tpg sites for referrals. problem is, he had to pay $2000 US to get in. i don't think he was going anywhere fast with it.

:laughing

The only accountability they should get is a pillow and a .22, which they'll probably end up with anyways. Oops, no need for spinners where they go... 6' under :D

Tempted a few times in me youth...Worked in the clubs...knew the people. i guess its just a matter of how you define yourself and what your personal 'price' is. Me? i don't want to disgrace my family name, friends and be the kinda guy who profits from hurting kids. I agree with ya'll its frustrating, discouraging, and down right scary.

If it makes ya feel any better...The life span of most of these guys is not long. I have personally known 10 guys in 'the biz' that got wacked.

I guess when its all said and done I can go out knowing I took the high road ...no pun intended.

they had a valid point'take away the profit motive' and the industry will disapear.

Making money the honest way may not make you rich. Making it the illegitmate way...well, there's always the competition that is out 'gunning' for you. And when you make it really big, your own people want to 'replace' you so they can make it big too.

I stopped a car that was speeding a couple of weeks ago. Both occupants where drug traffickers. Both were under 20 years of age. Nice car. I had a chat with the passenger. I gave him that very same spiel about making it big but can you grow eyes on the back of your head like you grow marijuanna. Even your own guys will set you up. Can you protect your family when you have one eventually?

A few hours later, we got a 911 call for a home invasion. Guess who was at the home? This same kid. Guess who got ripped off by his own people? He did. Why I know that? Cause the front door wasn't booted in because he opened his door to someone he knew. He was just lucky that the wasn't shot.

But then, you could get killed just crossing the street.
