Check this out! found this in my latest Motorcycle Racer mag. I bring you the Over Racing OV-23XV, the largest capacity road racing bike in the world (according to Alan Cathcart..). it's powered by the MT-01 engine:1670cc, Air cooled, pushrod 48 degree V-Twin..it's the Japanese Buell! pretty wild.

For race bikes, is the rad placement normally where the light assembly would be?

^^^That's likely an oil cooler, not a rad...since it's an aircooled motor.

And no, for racebikes the rad is not usually located there...that's where the ram-air intake would typically be. This bike looks to have the ram-air going up the sides. The highest air-pressure is at the front of the nose, which is why the ram air usually there...but since this bike probably needs all the cooling help it can get, my guess is that's why they put the oil cooler there.

it's more cute than anything. it's failed to qualify for the Suzuka 8hrs two years in a row. And weird, just like the Buell XBRR it doesn't have a slipper clutch..which for both is just damn bizarre. Large capacity vtwins without a slipper clutch, with the back torque those engines create you'd think it's a must have.
