Can anyone suggest a shop to have my wheels painted that won't cost $300 to $400. Seems really steep for just painting a set of wheels.

I have been told by a number of shops I can't powdercoat because they are magnesium.

prep them well and do 4 decent coats then some clear coat and your golden. i've painted several rims like that. it chips when pulling my locking chain across it but a little care and it'll look good for years to come.

last time I painted it with that appliance paint. it worked ok but not really as hard as I would have wanted. I didn't clear coat so that could have been my problem.

what paint did you use?

it's going from black to white so will I need to prime it first since it's hard to cover over the black?

i painted the stock black rims on my Gixxer white but all i did was clean the surface well to get rid of any grease or oil then 4 coats of white and 3 coats of clear and its all good. i used to re-coat my old Gixxers rims every couple of years but i never used clear so they'd stain. using the clear this time round took care of that. Krylon is the best for getting good coverage and finish.
