I would only get an old Kawi police bike so I can be like Ponch
I briefly rode an old BeeMer (74 R9) with a massive white touring fairing and I had an old military police motorcycle helmet (actually said MP on it - black and white) and it was hilarious how traffic would behave around me. Cars would slow right the fuck down and everyone would drive like saints.
I restored the bike to be a cafe racer but it was a riot for the few weeks I kept it in that condition.

:rockon damn that's a nice looking bike. If you don't mind the fact that it's been ridden around like the town hoar, then take it (it'll have a lot of mileage, but probably well maintained by the police). If you are serious about the bike then budget what it would cost to make the bike not look like 5-0. I would personally add hot rod flames to it imho.

Did you find you got around faster or slower because everyone was slowing you down?
They still use them in WA State, particularly Birch Bay in the summer months, and are in really good condition. A cop I talked to that was riding one got a kick out of the Ponch reference.I would only get an old Kawi police bike so I can be like Ponch
