Any of you local guys clean up your rear fender? I'd like to do it this season but I don't want to just competlely remove it and lose my license plate light. I've seen one guy do a really nice install, but it cost him a fortune; maybe I don't have a choice?

The standard slash with the dremmel tool won't work on mine I'm afraid.. :(

I'm not cutting into my LED tail lights. ;)

I'm going to change the oil on the bike this weekend, and then I'll take a closer look at what I have to work with.. the bike is in my father in-law's garage right now.

Well, I attempted to take my tail light assembly off last night.. quick release my ass. Maybe it was a little dark, and maybe I had a lack of tools, but I couldn't get that bad boy off...

So dumb question: You put a wrench around the button nut while unscrewing the hex screw in the trunk right?

Someone? :laughing <-- nervously..

Ok people, issues:

First of all I don't see the quick release tabs for the lights. It was my impression that these came off quickly for race days.. I'm a little lost and don't want to go digging to far.

Anyhow, some pics:

This is the underside (yes it's dirty), there are 4 bolts, and a hole right in the middle of the four of them that the wires go through, you'll see in the next picture that you don't see the wires come through on the other side.

Figured it out. There are 6 rivets on the underside of the tail. Just push in the center of them, and they'll come out real easy.

I also unscrewed most of the tail so I could have a look around in there. Man is our electrical compartment packed to the tits.
