If anybody missed this they should check it out if and when it repeats. cool concept, and the bikes turned out really sweet.

Rooke must of screwed up that LC8 engine. With all that stuff cut off I wasn't sure it would even start. I thought he'd should have done better in the drag race. 'course his bike was not entirely a race bike, more a race custom, & His skills probably aren't quite up to Sands's as well too I guess.
With that engine done proper and dropped in Sands bike..that would be impressive.
there seems to bit a contreversy alluded to in the second link.

where is the controversy? it's an article hilighting sands' ama racing background and the performance parts he creates.

no mention of rooke? good. he's a tool. he was kicked off biker buildoff once already for being a whiny bitch about not being paid for his frame on a russ mitchell bike. surprised they let the fucker back on.

I think he was kicked off of "Build or Bust" the show that Russell Mitchell was working on. I might be wrong though. Rooke is a cocky S.O.B. Either way both bikes are sweet, but Sands bike kicks ass.

and on this show some "editing" was done. to quote the second link:
So, there's your best two-of-three - game, set and match, right? Wrong. This is where the TV magic happens. After some whispering between producers and the builders, a last run was taken in which Rooke held off Sands by a couple lengths to win one pass. What do you want to bet that one gets shown first or second on TV?
If I remember correctly the third run run was shown second. as well I don't think there was any mention of a mechanical problem which apparently handed the Rooke bike it's win in the dirt.

the competition was as set up as the concept of the bikes .I wish one show they could just film the fuking thing and leave the drama to the soaps .Do they think middle aged housewifes are watching ?

bikes were cool .the comp was dumb and fake ,at least the sort of beat on em tho.As far as the road race sands would have beaten him by way more than he did .the dirt track i think was the only realistic part .

i enjoyed it mostly

the photoshoot thing where the "chopper king" came in and disrupted, was the part that almost made me turn it off ,..if it wasnt for the bikes.
(what are yu doing ? who are these people ,,who are yu ? " ,,,,jebus chripes that was so fuking stupid)

they clearly showed sands pulling up. they said he had a throttle problem and a clutch problem. before that sands was putting on a clinic. in the road course race you could see sands trying to drag knee, where rooke wanted to keep the bike upright in the corners.

they did show rooke's drag win out of order, obviously to create some drama. they had to do something to keep rooke "competitive"

I loved both bikes. Excellent designs for that short period of time.

Sands bike is what a Buehl SHOULD be. Love the liberal use of Ohlins and a built motor. If I had a cruiser, it would be like that. Sweet.

+1 here too. Sands has built some pretty sweet machines. I read a write up on one of his bikes in a mag last year. And they featured him on Superbikes a few months ago. Actually, I think it was the bike showcased on biker build off. They mentioned it was a tribute to that johny chop guy. I recall him saying he built the frame to the same geometry as a GSXR1000.

As far as custom bikes go. I'll admit, I'd like one. But I'd rather have one like Sands's bike up top.

Rooke makes some cool stuff too.. but his whining and bitching gives riders a bad name.

i've seen Sands in action a few times on a 250 and he's fast......very fast. builds some beautifull stuff too. King Kenny gave him an old Proton V5 to build a custom from and it's taking shape nicely. that'll be something to see.
