Everytime someone starts a music thread on here im amazed with the depth of knowledge some people have. And good taste..so with that said Ive hit a wall for riding music and for working out and thought some peeps could point me in the direction of some of their favorite bands..

Punk is by far my favorite..

Bands I love..

Buzzcocks
Ramones
Stooges
Sex Pistols
Eagles of Death Metal
Millencollin
Sublime
Face to Face
Eve 6
Bad Religion
Cake

Maybe this list could help in some suggestions..

Cheers...

Lol... that video with Jack Black in it is freaking hilarious :laughing

Check out:
Rise Against - Revolutions Per Minute (this is my fav album)
Dragon Force (if you're into some hilarious 80's-esque power metal, also apparently they have the worlds two fastest guitarists)
Strike Anywhere
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Disturbed
Finger 11
Breaking Benjamin
Death Cab For Cutie
Panic At The Disco
Our Lady Peace
....:flip
nothing to mainstream..

Looking for new bands or bands Ive never heard before..

Tom Jones.
Kyuss
Samiam
Pulley

ummm...
I knew this was a good idea...

love Bouncing Souls and NOFX..will give the other a shot..
Eagles of Death Metal put on a rad show.
Branching off of that I'd say Queens of the Stone Age, especially for riding.

Things that would be on my list that haven't been mentioned...
Metric, Blood Brothers, Be Your Own Pet, Gorillaz, The Mars Volta, Muse, Placebo, Wolfmother, Yeah Yeah Yeah's.

Thats the higher energy stuff for the most part, other stuff that might not be as good for riding, but awesome music nonetheless would be...
Belle and Sebastian, Broken Social Scene, The Decemberists, Emily Haines and the Soft Skeletons, The Flaming Lips, Interpol.... ok I don't want to go any further... but thats my kind of music. Flaming Lips are probably #1 these days.
We Are Scientists
Anything August
CrimeThink
MurderCity Sparrows
Our Mercury
Oh yeah and
Hatebreed,
Throwdown,
Knapsack,

If you like NOFX you'll more than likely like Craig's Brother,
but pretty hard to find.
Be your Own Pet hasnt been out of my CD player in my truck for 2 weeks.

Ok Im going to stop writing these down..just print the whole damn page..
Be Your Own Pet show was cancelled in October. So weak. Saw them in April in California and they were AWESOME. Check out stuff thats not on their cd too if you haven't fire department etc. Real good stuff.

With "I'm Gonna Booglarize You" as one of the best riding tunes ever.

Recently added to the player and getting a lot of airplay:

Ali Farka Touré, Savane – Mind blowing polyphonic African Blues with an incredible cinematic feel.

TV on the Radio, Return to Cookie Mtn – Out there industrial, with wierd harmonies and heavy layering. On the 4AD label. Need I say more.

DJ Shadow, The Outsider — Silly, fun. If you know his "Entroducing" album you know what this is like.

Devo, Are We Not Men? & Duty Now for the Future — Loaded this up for a bit of nostalgic reasons. Really stands up to the test of time. Brilliant social commentary and the arrangements and production are first rate.

Koop, Islands - Like their first album, Waltz For Koop, its kinda offbeat modern lounge jazz that is both retro and modern at the same time. If you haven't heard Waltz for Koop and you are into jazz you are missing something good.

Jon Hassell - Maarrifa Street, Wacked out atmospheric, jazz with a dose of funk... kind of. He did some work with Eno back in the early 80's that was considered seminal. All his work is amazing. He's 71 years old but has the sensibility of a musician in his 30's or 40's.

EDIT:

Miles Davis, Bitches Brew - Took me until I was in my 40's to "get" this album. Mind blowingly good.

There's more but this is good start if you are looking for something different.
