Ryan R's conclusion to the April 7th ride !

Well, that was one sweet ride we had today, up until about 5:30 :( . We were just passing the Brunette Ave exit on the way to meet Atom and the gang on Robson and Thurlow when all of a sudden a car pulls up beside me honking and pointing at my bike. Then I see the guy in the back mouth the words FLAT TIRE :eek :(. Yep I pulled off to the side and sure enough my 207 was sunk and exhausted of air. So then we think for a momment and human (Farhad) who I was with said we can try and use my moms BCAA. So we phone up and get the number and to make a long story short, we were scrooed with no way to get the bike home with out actually paying for a tow truck. I was not doing that so, we push the bike back and I ride it slow up an off ramp while Human blocks the traffic. We had no way of plugging the tire nor anyone with a pick up to call. So we hopped from gas station to gas station filling up air for about 12 blocks. It was kind of like a pit stop. I would pull in human connects the air and says 5 seconds then GO GO GO and we are off to the next station. We went all the way to BMathews house which is right nearby Burnaby Kawi so when they open up on tuesday it is either new tire or plug the old one. I tell ya what a day :rolleyes

PS. Human if you see this thread post the pics from Bruces house here. ;)

Oohhh..that's too bad Ryan. Hey, but at least you were able to get out...I'm still bikeless. A similar thing happened to me last Labour Day weekend. I was out past Powell River (in Lund) when my tyre lost all it's air, and nothing is open on Labour Day. I ended up using that green tyre goop stuff in order to get my self home. It did an okay job, but I kept losing air...ended up going through a couple of cans of it in order to just hobble to the ferry.
Bad karma bud....F4i_2 went down with a flat as well. His tire went out on him on the highway doing 120kph. We got ahold of bugs and called a buddy of his from Drake Towing to get a hookup. The cost was $50 for the hookup and $2/km after that. Its sitting at my parents in Surrey right now. Thats two flats in one day...looks like we're gonna have to stay away from there for a few more weeks.

Good to hear you guys made it to Bruce's safely:) .

it's happenedto all of us..funny how you dont notice the flat til someone points it out

no pics from today's ride?
I found that stuff at the gas station but it says on it NOT FOR MOTORCYCLES OR VEHICLES WITH TUBLESS TIRES. So that idea was out the window.
I just received a BCAA Gold membership as a gift, and I think it's got some great value, it'll allow you to tow your bike like 6 times a year. Cost about $90 I think.

May have saved you guys some money.. something is always bound to happen, and your so much more worse off with a bike as you can't just lock it up and leave it... :(

Pick up truck

If this happens to anyone else, give me a call (cell 612-0056, home 685-RACE (7223)). I have a pickup, ramp, and all the straps so your baby isn't going to fall over (I've carried my bike about 10,000km in it with no mishaps). If I haven't got something preventing me from helping out I'll gladly help (may cost you a beer, but that's cheap.)
BCAA told me that my membership doesn't cover my motorcycle unless I upgrade to the gold one, but when they sold it to me in the first they said it would. good to have anyway.

Get a flat sucks especially at speed, lucky he didn't go down. makes a good argument for keeping a $15 plug kit under seat. If anyone wants to learn how to use one let me know. it is pretty easy, as I have repaired many a flat on my cars.
shitty man.....

how did you get a flat?
was it a nail or something?
cause roy? got a flat too
whereabouts on the highway did this happen? I took off at the 152 ST Surrey exit and it looked like you guys were fine??? :confused

it happened around that time, when the dude on the red R6 jumped ahead to alert him that he had a flat but he didn't understand cause we were on the highway so he alerted Adam and he took care of it.

no wonder no one showed up to the last meet pt.

and if anyone askes, i WASN"T at the robson st starbucks:)
so thats what Arai was doing! I thought he was trying to tell Atom that he needed Gas or something???
that sucks :( 2 flat tires in one day.... :( I'm gonna go check my tires right now to make sure I didn't pick up anything at annacis.

Sorry to hear about the flat tires, luckily no accidents were caused by them. I guess I better check out my tires too. Anybody know who those two guys on the 2001 gsxrs 600 were, are they bcsportbike members. They met us at the 232nd cheveron and were pulling nice stand-ups anybody know how to contact them. I would like to make a movie of them and my cbr 900 pulling some wheelies:D I can do decent sit down wheelies now just tried a new technique today. Went down to a dead end street in port kells and clutched it up in first, clicked into second and rode it out for a bit. This is the only way I have found that I dont have to rev the nuts out of cbr. Oh yeah, the ride today was great, Atomlowe did a nice job of organizing it. The last group I used to ride with would pass cars like crazy, this is a refreshing change.

I dont think those wheelie'in farmboys (haha.. gotta luv em) are on this board... too bad though.. i think someone told them about this board though.... there was actually 3 of them.... 2 on gixxers and another guy on an F4i..... when we got to teh chevron on 232nd at teh beginning of the day, they were already there....

OH ask Karl.... aka F4racer ([email protected]) he told them about today i think....
Flats suck. Especially ones where you can't get the baby home. My lowside today was tame in comparison $$$. New tires aint cheap.

Good to finally meet everyone as well. God I need a track day...

You low-sided??.... WHERE???.....

I was with the Sumas group and everyone seemed alright.
We headed up from the meeting spot about 2k. There was some NASTY pea gravel on the road. And we all saw thr gravel. I was sure I was out of it on the way back. Nope, hit it and let her down real smooth. My knee tried to keep me up but no luck..no big damage. Just a ground down frame slider and spool on the rear. Leathers got some chewies on them too. Pretty slow and minor. That's the way we all like them right? When no one can tell?
i think you left before he lowsided rob..

didn't you leave a bit early to go to tim hortons or burger king?
