Speaking of which, has anyone been up the turnoff to Stave Lake from #7 in mission? I was up there the day it snowed on my bike, and while the roads were clear, there was a LOT of snow drifts on the side. I want to go back, but I dont want to ride on snow...

Stave has very little single track. If you are into logging road it is a great place with scenic views. There are a few decent areas and some of the roads ( the ones past the gates on the left[west] side)can be pretty loose and steep, providing a challenge but if you want single track, look elsewhere.

there is actually a very difficult single track/no track ride that starts on the sandman at Mcnutt, and goes to Stave....I repeat though its freaking brutal! almost got stuck till after dark on that ride!

snow update

Well, there is no snow but we need a chainsaw. I tried to ride Sandman and it has way to many trees down. I went to the track instead after 1/2 hr. of fustration. The trees aren't just down across the trail but running the lenght of it. Anybody have a saw?

I have heard of this trail before. Where does it exit on the Stave side?

the last stretch of the ride ends up a a ravine. the only way we got up it was to have a our bikes winched up the ravine by an ATV'r that was riding with us. even the ATV had to winch itself up the ravine. it ends up at one of the logging roads the branches off and upwards past the 4 wheeling area.
