Just thought you'd like to know that theres a comparo between a Gixxer and a Vette on Motorcyclist. I caught the tail end of it. If anyone could post it, that would be awesome. Next airtime is 9:30pm/12:30am ET.

I got the march issue of motorcyclist with the whole thing.... the gixxer layed a big smackdown on the 2k2 z06 vette and best of all, the gixxer took the tight corners faster than the vette :eek

so 9:30pm tonight on Speed, i'm gonna record it thanks for the heads up

I know some british magazine last year raced a GSXR1000 Vs. a Ferrari Vs. a Harrier jumpjet.....I don't want to even begin on the analytical flaws of such a test..

I don't know why the fascination with testing a fast bike against a fast car. It's a different thing altogether. Any idiot can drive a car fast (well almost any idiot) with their ABS and their traction control and their four (count 'em four) contact patches. Then if you do overcook a corner, it will slide and you'll carry on. You f*** up on a bike and it's not gonna be pretty. That's the kind of tension that makes riding a blast. I've never understood top speed testing, because there are so few places you can use it. Whereas if you little Toyota will corner 20km/h faster than a Vette, you're the man! Screw top speed.

I think this test was done more to piss off the carguys. Back in 97 the car dudes raced a Viper GTS against a Yamaha YZF1000 Thunderace, It ponders my mind why they didn't choose a gsxr-750 at the time.... but anyway, the car supposely beat the bike cause the bike guy was too scared to go fast.... but the viper blew it's engine during the test anyway hahhahaha :laughing

Yeah i totaly don't understand the whole bike vs car race,.. i mean in one hand you have a 100-150hp bike weighing in at 370-420 lbs, and in the other hand you have a 250-350hp car weighing in at 2000-3000lbs. Of course the bike is gonna win, unless this car is just stupid fast, with some totaly tricked up motor, and i mean if some guy wants to spend $60,000-$100,000 then i guess he deserves to beat a bike in a drag race,.. but i have yet to see it happen, on the street or at the track.. of course with the exeption of that supra, but i mean again that guy spent just a rediculous amount of money to get that car to that stage...

Most car guys know not to mess with a bike in a straight line.... unless they are packing some serious heat under the hood. But it's the track and twisty stuff where they think a car can perform better.... I wouldn't doubt in the past that a car could.... but now, the test by motorcyclist proved a bike can take the corners as fast or faster than a awesome handling car that packs some 400+ horsepower.... Motorcyclist says tire technology for bikes is one of the main reasons for the big improvement in the last 10 years....

Its just a comparo between two completely stock units. Its always been a fight between the car vs bike crowd so they decided to test the two main contenders in terms of bang for your buck. It doesn't do much but give us bike guys something to brag about.

yup I agree....

but the goal of the test was not testing rider/driver skill, but what both machines can do when pushed to the limits....

What about Schumaker in the Vette and Rossi on the GSXR1000?
Shwantz was 10 seconds below the AMA race pace for Supersport bikes, so don't think it had *that* much to do with rider skill, at least not in the cars favour. Shwantz was 8 seconds behind superbike pace, but the he was 1.5 seconds under the T1 class lap record in the 'Vette.

Basically in Summary of last night's comparison ... The driver/rider concludes "Cars are heavy and can't corner as well as bikes" The main advantage of a car is that it offers stability and comfort.

0-100-0 ... Bike finished it before the car could do 0-100. The rider said ... basicaly the rider could finish and take off his helmet before the car stops

Whatever .. bikes are faster than cars .. cars are better for going out .. Gotta have both to get girls :cool
