Green '04 ZX10R, Kits, stolen Saturday night/Sunday morning.
Akrapovic, Ohlins steering damper, black Sato Rearsets, smoked screen. I'd owned it one month.
Die, bike thieving scum, die.
And last week, bicycle stolen. Now I feel like a Vancouverite!

first mod you should make to any bike is a bike brace or bike boot. IF you can spend 1000s of bucks modding your bike, you can afford to spend a couple hundred on a brace/boot

Agreed.
I didn't do any of the mods. But I did put off getting good security (fat lot of good an alarmed disc lock does), and I am indeed Lord of the Idiots for not having it chained/booted/buried up to the pegs in concrete.

or you could just buy some insurance and relax.
or you could go fist youself on bikeland.org!

Insurance is a pain in the ass to deal with. Like I said bike brace or bike boot should be your first mod, hell I bought one and had it installed before I bought the bike.

yeah... I love how the people who are calling me an ass are all the people who profit from selling the bike boot or brace or whatever the fuck it is... :rolleyes

buy insurance... if you have a loss, file a claim... this is hardly "new" information ...

:rolleyes

as an alternative to insurance and the boot brace thing, you could move out of crackville... consider living in an area where crime isnt so high that you have to literally PRE-PURCHASE a locking concrete anchor for your possesions....

I'm also curious if Adam will assign penalty points to Purevil for his comments, in line with the new "rules". It would only be fair.

Who here profits from the sale of bike braces and bike boots? I sure as fuck dont? You got me confused with Jay from bike brace? Cuz Im J of post guns and pr0n clan. I have no affiliation and or association with bike brace and or bike boot. I do know both owners/manufacturers and both guys sell and install great products for a few hundred bucks that greatly reduced the chances of bike theft. I think your comment about get insurance is fucking stupid because that doesn't reduce the risk, the headaches, and the worries when it comes to bike theft at all! It covers you yes, but it sucks waiting the mandatory 28 days especially if your bike gets stolen in the middle of the riding season. Plus the first person ICBC thinks stole your bike is yourself, never a actual bike thief! I had to wait an extra 3 weeks if I remember correctly for my name to clear, so saying get insurance and dont worry about it kinda pissses me off on a personal level, espically when I was paying 4000 plus a year for full coverage.

Plus as i've said 1000 times, if you can afford to spend 1000s of dollars on modding your bike, you can afford a few 100 for a brace or boot.

To the original thread poster: Sorry about your loss, and sorry about the thread hijack. Hope all goes well for ya, and that ICBC doesn't fuck you to hard. But in the future you can either take my advice or take fish tits advice. Good luck.

I dont live in "crackville", I live in a nice area thank you very much.

I hope I wouldn't get any points, but lifes not fair cuz this isn't my world, its his. I can live and accept that, can you? Plus I can afford a few points if I get some, OK thanks and have a nice day.

Why would you suggest that someone who purchases insurance for their bike is "genuinely a fuckin moron"?

How's that right? :rolleyes
mostly because i dont want icbc paying out claims to "fuckin morons " whos best idea of protecting thier valuebles is to only buy insurance .Instead of trying something to protect it so ICBC doesnt have to charge me and arm and a leg ,so they have enough money to pay "fucking morons " when they leave thier bike unprotected for another "fucking moron " to easily steal it .

why lock the doors to your house ? just buy insurance ,,matter of fact why not have fires in the living room ? just buy insurance ,,that outta cover it
