I own a SV1000S 04. Will the 03 04 636 or 04 ZX10R fit my bike. It looks like the battery box has to be moved slightly for clearance.

Depends on your weight. The GSX-R1000 shock is the closest in length to the stock setup but the spring is only a bit heavier, if i recall correctly. You also have to worry about 'modifying' the toolbox on k4+ bikes so that the shock resevoir will fit.

I have finally found some useful information of swaping a shock from a different bike to a 03 and up SV1000S.

Most of the articles I read were either not specific to my model year or you had to alter the battery box or tool box to get the shock in.

The swap is a 2006 GSXR Shock to a 03 and up SV1000S with no mods needed to have it fit. The thread is supplied with very useful pictures.
The only mod the person made was to wrap the exhaust in heat resitant tape.

I just have to find out what rate the GSXR 06 spring is.

One thing that is good too is if you get one off E-Bay the bike will have had low mileage.
