Is anybody from the BC sportbikes forums organizing a trip around the Loop? (Whistler, Pemberton, Lillooet, Hope and back down the Fraser Valley. Around 500kms)

It's an awesome trip as those who have done it know. Should take a full day.

My buddy and I are doing it for sure as soon as the weather gets a little warmer so if anybody is already planning on going, let's all hook up and make it a BC sportbike trip.

I am into it, but I prefer to go Vancouver, Whistler, Pemberton, Lilloette, the turn around and come back. Makes for a bit longer ride, but it is well worth it.

The ride down the highway through hope and back into vancouver is soooooooooooooo boring.

yeah, especially when there is traffic, it's gotta suck.... there are some nice backroads in chilliwack and abbostford that you can hit, then take the mission turn off and take high 7 back into vancouver.

This is so true. You'll also be tired and there will be a lot of traffic to deal with which makes for a very unpleasant (and dangerous)ride home. I prefer doing the loop counterclockwise, starting at 6:30AM and making it a full day ride with plenty of stops. I can deal with the traffic along Highway 99 late in the day because I'm fully alert. Clockwise, counterclockwise or turning around, I recommend an early start.

Has anyone tried the number 5 up to Merrit? Byron raves about it on his site, and looking at the pictures, it definately seems like something to check out.

I think Byron is thinking of Highway 5A between Merritt and Kamloops. (It used to be referred to as Highway 5, but after the Coquihalla was built they changed the number of this Highway to 5A.) It's pretty good. It largely runs through open grassland country so the sightlines are decent. Plus, there's not too much traffic.

I seem to recall that the Highway from Merritt to Princeton is pretty good too. (I think it's number 5A as well.) Actually, a good loop ride would be to take Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton, then take 5A to Merritt, then Highway 8 from Mettitt to Spences Bridge and then come down the Fraser Canyon back to Hope. Hmmm, I'll have to put that one on the "to do" list for this summer. :)

Must be 5A. I rode that route last year and you decribed it very well. I think I passed one car the entire time.

Your "to do" ride is excellent. You'll love the Merrit to Spences Bridge line. "Destination Highway" makes reference to a blind decreasing radius corner which comes up somewhat unexpectingly. Be warned, it's true.

Yes, I can't wait for this ride, just want to know where everyone is meeting and at what time in the morning. My break in will be finished by Wednesday so anyone who knows more about the ride please drop me a line.

So I guess this thread is the one being used to post a meeting spot for the April 7th Loop trip this coming Sunday?

Does someone wanna post the redundant meeting information from the other thread?

I'm in for sure guys, this'll be my first trip this season and my first trip with a bunchof strangers.
