***Route & times changed***

It looks like the weather is going to be great for Thursday & I'd like to get one more ride through the North Cascades before the weather turns on us.

Meet at the Tim Hortons (the one south of Hwy 1) on Sumas Hwy at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday morning

Leave at 10:00 a.m. for Manning Park & beyond

Route will be Sedro Woolley, North Cascade Hwy, Winthrop, and back. This is probably going to be about a 7-9 hour ride (including lunch) so be prepared with layers or heated vest and a clear visor.

Pace will be whatever your pace is. (Ride your own ride and your own pace. We will make stops for gas as required and to wait for everyone on the ride. Remember, this is not a contest to see who is the fastest rider. :) )

Bring your passport or other documents that will get you into the U.S. and back into Canada & home.

Post up if you can make it.

I'm pretty sure I can make it. If no disasters happen at work between now and then, I'll be there. Need to take the first few km slow to scrub in a brand-new rear.

Hey Nancy, I got your message but I cannot make it. I tried to move things around w/ no luck.

Not to hijack your thread, but I was up early this morning so I did the short loop. It was damn cold - just above or below freezing through the canyon, an below freezing through most of the Duffey (-4 deg C to -1 deg C most of the way leaving Lillooett around 10:00 am). Of course, the scenery is beautiful this time of the year.

I imagine the Cascades and Hope/Princeton will be even cooler, so y'all better bundle up and crank the heated vests.... or put on the extra layers like I do :rockon

Have a safe ride.

I'm sorry to hear that you can't make it. :(

I've been checking the temp's for the route we'll be taking & it looks like it will be well above 10 degrees (my threshold) for most of the route when we hit the high parts. The only area I'm concerned about it Manning Park & we may get there & it will still be cold...

Nice pictures!! (don't worry about the hi-jack) :)

I've had a few people say that it's going to be too cold for them to start at 8:30. I'm thinking of doing an out & back to Winthrop instead because then we can leave a bit later.

Let me know if this works for you all:

Meet: TH at 9:30 and leave at 10:00 a.m.
To: Winthrop via Concrete & back

All other details are the same as the first post... let me know what you think.

I just rode through Concrete and Diablo lake on Saturday and the roads and totally clear. Just some leaves blowing around. On some straightaways, there are piles of leaves that you can ride through!!! :flashy

Make sure you stop at the dam at Diablo Lake. You can ride right onto it!!! When you pass the turn off for Diablo another 1-2 minutes there is a Learning Centre turn off. That is the access road to the dam. WELL WORTH IT.

finding the Timmy's is easy Cory. take the border exit and head for the border. there is a strip mal just before it. Home Sense, Zellers etc etc. there's an intersection with a light at the Zellers. turn right then a quick left into the strip mall. you'll find Timmy's/ Wendy's on your left.

Sumas Border exit (Hwy 11) south... and then look for Zeller's, etc. like Patrick said.

Thanks for the ride!! Unfortunately it didn't turn out (at the end) the way I would have liked it to... let me give you a hint: diesel fuel on the road.

Yeah, went down on the off ramp from Hwy #1 to 176th and for all of you who know me & know how I ride, you know that this was definitely an "environmentally caused" spill.

I was up one moment & then down on my right side sliding along the pavement the next - happened so fast I couldn't do anything about it. The JR gear held up beautifully (see pics). I'm not hurt at all (that I know of yet).
Now I have to deal with Megson Fitzpatrick on this claim.

Damn diesel fuel. Thanks Scott, for stopping & helping me out. I would still be there waiting for a tow truck if you hadn't stopped to help out. This community just amazes me sometimes how great the people are.

And for the pics (the gear & the bike):
