Can't find much info on TORC helmets.
The website just has links to sale items.
http://torchelmet.com/

My girlfriend bought one at International Motorsports the other day.
So makes me want to know more = looking for reviews, testing, details.
It has built in sun visor, was a cheap price, and it looks kool.
Anyone know more?

Thanks Captain Obvious, looking for something a bit more specific.
The Bing/Google/Yahoo search results give you Amazon/eBay/or other seller's customer reviews.
Which seem as reliable as a Yelp restaurant review.

As far as I can see TORC's parent company is H&H Protection.
http://www.hhsportsprotection.com
...they also make ORIGINE, JUST1, and NiTEK (MotoGP/2/3 racing brand).

TORC's focus:
"We set out to create a lifestyle brand focused on the most important price points in the western hemisphere"
http://www.hhsportsprotection.com/HH_usa.php

The TORC website so far only has helmet selling info, it would be nice to see a good read with hard information.
Such as,
http://www.shoei-helmets.com/Safety_TechTesting.aspx
or
http://www.shark-helmets.com/security.php
or
http://www.araiamericas.com/product-information

The TORC T-14 model my girlfriend bought has a DOT rating but not a SNELL rating.:banghead

And they make super dinky style beanies.
So safety as a philosophy probably not in the company mission statement.
But, apparently meets ECE standards. Unless in this case ECE stands for Energizing Chinese Economy.

I'd say it comes down to the primary intended use of said girlfriend whether you should let her be the guinea pig for this company.

I'm just not sure why people try to justify buying shitter helmets by tracking down some obscure lineage showing that a parent company makes better helmets, and pointing out the various safety ratings it qualified for.

Safety ratings are one thing. I obviously wouldn't buy any helmet that isn't properly certified, which of course many cheap helmets are. I just also prefer my helmets to be comfortable, quiet, well-ventilated, light weight, have a good seal around the visor, not buffet at speed, have a removable and washable liner, visor lock, etc. I'd be surprised if it has many/any of those features.

A helmet like this "TORC" may perform just as well as a higher-end helmet in a crash. But the thing about crashing, is that I try to spend as little time as possible doing that. I prefer my helmet to be enjoyable to wear the rest of the time when I'm not crashing.

The problem with most budget helmets is you can't get replacement pads for them, and if a part breaks, it's a throw in the garbage unit. I have a few cheaper helmets I've picked up
over the years in different sizes for passengers... mostly HJC and stuff, and a few have broken and I've had to toss them.

With a good quality helmet, parts are always available.
