Your option right now is HOPE and that's it. Herrling is severely flooded and the road to Chipmunk is washed out.
I'm in but I'll need everything (rent a bike from Bill, some transportation, and borrow some gear). Anyone want to help me out? Sadly, I still do not have my own truck, bike, and gear yet. I'm gonna be at my brother's in the US for Christmas and plan to bring myself back some bike gear Christmas presents.
I may have a DRZ 125 to rent out if Bill runs outta bikes.
what's Squamish like right now? pretty warm, snow line might not be too low.
ya i heard herlings water logged and everythign is washed out.squamish could be fun, only been there a couple times, iam not sure how good it is for new riders though other then logging roads.

iam guessing its tailings then.thanks for the heads up bill and if anyone has info on squamish stuff let me know.
I was at Herling on Sunday, before the rain, and the river bed was bone dry! just little pools of trapped salmon from time to time. Trails were pretty deep with standing water though. I imagine after all this rain, Herling is under water.

I do like tailings though! that place rocks!
could ride the back side of the chief to indian arm.
brohm ridge.

harrison lake to the hot springs, west side.
I won't be going but I do have bikes for rent.
Just got back from a nite ride with Jumby from Squamish to the end of Indian arm. It was fun to ride at a semi aggressive pace with the helmet HID lights. You can out run them still and never being on the road kept me on my toes. Quite different as you cannot really see the reilef of what is coming at you. A couple of good creek washes since the storm that were a suprise. One in particular was a hard hit with a 18inch vertical face on the opposite side and jagged head sized rocks strewn about in the creek. Jumby softened the hit for me somewhat as he banged up the enbankment with his chest hitting the cross bar in the process. Frost on the trees up high but no ice yet. I may be done with local off road riding for the season now.
what would be a good guess on how long Herrling will be nasty? or is a write off for the winter now?
watch the weather,it says 100% rain/snow for hope.translates to snow up in the mountain.ill keep eyes peeled.

i'm going riding on monday ! hope or herrling
im pretty close, i can probably whip up there on Saturday and take a look and get some pics for you guys, you can judge for yourselves.
ok,the weather made my decision.iam gonna just go up to eagle mountain sunday, gonna work on the kids learning curve a bit with them.

if anyone wants to come up feel free(kids, woman, anyone),its only a few minutes from coquitlam center.its a new riders place so if ya want a good hard ride its not for ya.

if ya wanna practice riding or just rip around then its perfect.i'll bring a lawn chair and watch all you hooligans.if ya want suggestions feel free to ask.

heres a google earth pic of the area.

Cool! See ya there!
ya herrling is not good today, the island is still above the water line by quite a bit but youd need a big truck to get through to it, no parking and riding across kinda thing. I didnt even go down to the entrance seeing the water from the hyway it was pretty much a given. BUT there were some trucks down there, die hards I guess :) It did get sunny out here for a minute or two LOL, but its not gonna dry up any time soon.
J1K

how large of a area is this?
is the logging roads?
to explorer??
