Starting a winter project a little early: I'm compiling an online resource of motorcycle roads for all of Canada.

What are some of your favourite roads in BC or AB? Feel free to list more than one and include any other details you'd like.

Thanks all,
Ty

ps: I'm from T.O. but I'm not an asshole, honest.

Hi Ty, we just have to many good roads here to single out one or two but the previous posters reference to "Desination Highways" is a good one. Destination Highways is a book put together by some riders of the best rides in BC and also one for Washington State which also has great riding. All rides are described and rated, I've never found any decent ones left out. The book is available. Sorry for boring you if you know about the book ar that's not what you're interested in. I've been to TO, you must be the only person who's not an AH.

does anybody actually do any of their own legwork these days? the destination highways book was compiled by riders (and this is the part you might not get) that actually rode the roads and rated them. maybe this hands-on approach would be more satisfying than just getting gullible people to do the work for you.

thing is, i sail. sheldon doesn't fly; he watches a movie.

the best places i've been to this summer have no road access. top of indian arm was incredible, for more than just the party.

private yacht club outstation. sailing up with 3 hotties and 2 buddies. majority of boats over 40'. no sleep for 3 days. running out of booze on day 1. bbq and costume party on day 2. breakfast for 150 on day 3.

some girl was convinced her tongue was attacking her and needed to be taken by speedboat to deep cove for a visit with the paramedics. i am sure it wasn't a natural reaction.

watching no-neck boy pass out while standing upright in nothing but a towel. then seeing his girl take the towel off of him because she wanted to go have a shower. he was so wrecked his eyes rolled back into his head.

kayaking to granite falls. girls tanning in bikinis on the decks of the boats. girls falling off the boat 10 mins after docking, and having her show everything while changing out of her wet clothes. girls falling off the boat, catching her pants on a cleat, and having them rip off, showing everything. waking up with a hot blonde beside you in a quarter berth meant for one.

there really is more to life than sitting at robson and thurlow staring at bikes all nite instead of riding them.

Sweet lead, thanks!

Unfortunately, I don't have the resources to ride every fucking road in Canada, so I'm left researching the experiences of others, sifting through countless posts filled with back/forth banter, looking to build something useful for all riders. I see this as a good opportunity to give back to the motorcycle community.

ssblade, anytime you find yourself riding in Ontario, Quebec or Nova Scotia, feel free to shoot me a message and I'll gladly share thousands of miles worth of firsthand experience with you so that your trip is as enjoyable as possible.

Sorry Doug, but the top of Indian Arm does have road access, it's from Squamish on the "Indian River Rd", which is a gravel road, sometimes rough, but passable most times if it's not washed out. Only it doesn't go to the yacht club, but ends up on the north side of the river at the mouth. It's a blast to travel, and when the pink salmon are running, the Indian River is choked with them, and the seals in the bay are fat and happy.

Nordel Way exit, over the overpass, back onto the Alex Fraser, Anacis Is. exit, over the over pass, onto the Alex again... And again....

The other side of this course is Anacis into 91 north to the east/west connector to the Westminster Hwy exit, over the overpass, back onto the freeway to Anacis and repeat.

Nine turns and sweeper on section one and 12 of the same on section two, and I get to save the center section of my tires becuz it's five minutes from home.

The problem with Indian Arm (and all boating glory stations) is you go for a swim and every one else's shit (literally) and paper and everything else is floating around you. On a bike ride, at least everyone gets off the road for the way-too personal stuff.

Did I mention all the best local roads are in California. NO DRIVEWAYS

Wow, hardly any serious replies. The best roads in this province are:

Fraser Canyon
Spences Bridge to Merrit
Merrit to Princeton
The entire Crow's Nest
Highway from Vernon to Nakusp
ALL the roads around New Denver, Kaslo, down to Creston
Road from Terrace to Gincolx
Jasper to Banff
Various Island roads, Gold River etc
And of course the various loops around Lilloet

I'm missing a couple, but that will keep one busy for a while.

ps. Just did most of these roads a few weeks ago, when all the forest fire smoke was lurking about. It was 44 degrees in Spences Bridge - the road to Merrit was traffic free and very, very sweet.
