what's so good about trackdays?

seems like everybody wants to get on the track or something, i know im not anxious on getting to the track anytime soon cause im not ready yet. But it seems like a lot of ppl are dying and craving for it, sup with that?
I know it's a safe environment to practise high speed stuff but shouldn't ppl that go to trackdays have more experience first? AND then worry about tracktime later?

I know at action, they want their students to have at least 5000kms under their belt before they take them across the border and do the fun stuff.

maybe im only saying this cause im told im not ready yet, but it's all good at least ppl care enough about you to look after you right?

Hey thanks i was just getting nice and comfy doing nothing and now i have to come check up on you the notorious poster:laughing

but seriously even with all the benefits you receive from track days they are also just a ton of fun

you trully ride and only concetrate on riding, just think of how you love finding nice corners or you ride to squamish and are just craving the next set of twisties ahead of you

a track day is a full day of these twisties, nothing but pure fun and a full day of me making fun of peach

i'm one of these guys who is craving the track and i think i'm gonna do it this year! Forget what i said earlier, i'm getting some old fairings this week and i'm getting on the track as soon as i can! The only problem is that i work on weekends and have the weekdays off, which is completely in reverse of everyone else!!!
And i can't take musch time off 'cause i'm already booking off 2 weekends for the Vegas trip!!!
What to do......

track days and crashes

I want to do a track day this summer but am apprehensive about crashing. I got a few buddies that do them every once and they've all crashed more than once. In fact their "track record" with track days isn't all that good. Is it a fact of life that you're going to go down on one of these days?

eventually, yes - thats how you find your limits...track days are best if you have a second bike or at least extra fairings

thats is true in that this is how you find your limits,

the humbling this is that this will also show you how far below our limits are compared to those of our bikes

99.9% of the crashes that i have scene at the track were rider error including mine

you learn from your mistakes, better to learn on the track where you wont get run over by a car after you fall off

If you are worried about crashing, you should go to a riding school FIRST. Keith Code's school have ZX6R which you can rent for the school, so you won't worry about dropping your own bike. Also you will feel more comfortable because it is a SCHOOL environment and no Mic Doohan Wannabies trying to stuff you on the inside! Plus you will learn the proper technique in order to go fast on the track. Street riding is very different than track riding. Learn it safely and you will have fun. Trying to go fast w/o the proper technique is what makes people crash.

Track riding schools

The decision to go to a performance riding school is pretty much a no brainer. Unfortunatley, I don't have a couple extra grand burning a hole in my pocket for the course fees. (Hence the concern over crashing at track days). I'm not necessarily worried about getting injured at the track, after all, I AM INVINCIBLE!!!

Keith Code is school is about $395US at Streets of Willow and that includes rental of the ZX6R. Consider if you drop your bike on the track because of inexperience, that alone will cost you more to fix the bike. Consider it an investment if you are to continue in this sport.:cool

ps, I have seldom seen rider crash in their school. There are usually about 50-60 riders and everyone is going at decent speed but in control. Worst time was when my girlfriend went to the all ladies class and they were dropping the bikes left and right even before they were on the track! Some girls are just not tall enough to hold the school bikes upright when they are in the pits!!:roflmao

yeap you are right. It used to be around $325 for Streets of Willow but i guess they have upped the price this year. $500US is still not too bad consider you don't have to haul your own bike down.

nope. you can bring your own or rent leather suit and boots and gloves from them. I am not sure about helmet but i image they will have some for rent too.
