White Rock drivers are every bit as bad as those who bought their licences in Richmond!

At the light 24th & King George, 10AM this morning, some woman in a blue Toyota Carolla wagon pulled up on my right, IN MY LANE! I yelled in her window - What the Fuck are you doing? and she timidly said - sorry. I guess she was in a hurry to get her first latte of the day. Then 2 blocks further down KGH some yahoo in a Land Rover blows a stop sign and cuts me off.

Earlier in the week some oldster with veteran plates cut me off when I was driving my truck.

Is it just me or is White Rock turning into the new Victoria, which used to be famous for crazy drivers?

That intersection (24th) is a bit screwed up IMHO. I ride & drive around white rock all the time and I don't find it too bad actually. Which is amazing considering all the seniors frankly...

I recommend some deep breaths :/

Middle aged guys in minivans are the new menace. I notice that they are really aggressive around motorbikes. They probably remember when they got their girlfriend pregnant and the wheels came off their life.

watch out for those veteran plates - everyone i've encountered rides like they want to take bikes off the road... that or they're just not capable of shoulder checks anymore!

lol!

Its funny you posted this.

White Rock is the only place this happens to me. 3 times within a month some car tried to share my lane. . . they saw me and just changed over as if I were a cyclist.

I find threatening gestures, honking and moving close enough to punch their window makes them get out of you lane in a hurry.

You must be referring to the advent of "soccer dads". With women getting paid more and being allowed to do things like "vote" we are seeing more and more "soccer dads". Just as menacing as soccer moms but with testosterone mixed all up in there. :laughing

I expect people to try and kill me. I'm rarely surprised by anything I hear or see anymore.

It used to be that you had to watch out for drivers who were old men wearing hats.

Now they have special 'veterans' license plates to make them easier to spot.

On another note - rural American drivers, esp. truck drivers have my respect. 14 days riding through rural America and I was amazed how many drivers would literally drive on the shoulder to make sure you don't get hung up behind them.

You said it, bro! You're in trouble as soon as you buy them a pair of shoes so they can leave the house. Before you know it, they're making more money than you, and leaving you at home with your kids that don't even look like you, while they're off on "business trips" to Vegas.

...I'd do something about it, but most of my bosses are women - and they render me powerless with their hotness. It's like they have kriptonite in their pants.

Seniors and tourists are always getting bashed but they aren't the ones that bother me, all they're trying to do is get from point A to B and not bother anyone, you're all gonna be there. It's the clowns that are INTENTIONALLY trying to be jerks that get me, next is soccer moms with cellphones in one hand and coffee in the other with a carload of kids, how safe is that.

As a veteran myself I have to defend drivers with veteran plates, of course they're older or they wouldn't be veterans, what do you expect...Rossi or Paul Tracy reactions. I'd much rather share the road with a veteran than some aggresive driver on meth!! My $.02

I work in the WhiteRock/Surrey area and yes it is scary. The scariest thing by far is the seniors who think there motorized carts are cars! They ride down the road like they are supposed to be there. Just because you put four orange flags does not mean you are "road worthy". What is even scarier is these motorized carts dont even wait at pedestrian crossings. They just cross like it was an extension of the sidewalk... Thank god for ABS brakes.

...At the light 24th & King George...

It was right around there, on my first ride alone after passing my skills test, that a lady at a light put her car in reverse and floored it. She was at the front of the line and I was about 6 feet behind her, dressed in bright yellow, sitting in view of two of her rearview mirrors, with my highbeam on, during daylight hours.

I had a split second to hit the horn, missed, and jumped off. She saw me bail and stopped about 2 inches short of my front tire. I am now intimately familiar with my horn. Good learning experience with no damage.
