My Mission 700AS home subwoofer decided to quit working the other day. THe subwoofer speaker is fine , but it smoked something on the control board. Anyone have any recommendations on places that might be able to fix it? It is a great sounding Sub, and I'd rather not have to throw it away considering I paid $500 for it a few years ago.

if it's electronics, any tv repair shop can do it.

if it's the voice coil on the speaker, you will have to take it to a specialist. the place by carter granville.. speaker city? audio city? i know they do speaker repairs.

Commercial Electronics has a great repair department. Everything from home to commercial equipment. Speaker City's work has been suspect in my past experience. If they can't fix it, they can point you in the right direction to who can.

Are you sure something's fried on the board? (Assuming you mean the amp on the back of the sub)

A cooked voice coil will smell a bit similar. If it's the board that needs repairing take it to the above recommended shops. If it's the voice coil that's cooked... then you may want to find a replacement sub. It's worth it if it's a decent sub as repaired speakers are never the same. :coffee
