Does anyone know if the Xena disc alarm will satisfy insurance companies requirement for a bike alarm? I live in Alberta and most of the insurance companies are making an alarm mandatory.

I am not aware of any alarm/disc lock requirement from ICBC or private insurance companies in BC. At least they have not asked me. Your best bet is to call them directly; rather than getting second hand info (mine included) and speculations.

it's not a requirement, but some optional insurance companies give you a better rate if you have one.

coast capital asks if the bike has an alarm, and is kept in a locked garage.

I have the disc alarm.
The alarm is only good to remind you that the disc lock is still on your bike.
It goes off for only 20 seconds or so.
The alarm is not a theft deterrent it is only a warning to the rider so he/she won't ride with it on. (and brake something)

I think gated parkades get the add-on insurance costs, as there are so many thefts from them!

If it's not a theft deterrent, what is the device used for? Motorcycle Jewellery? :coffee

nope, will not qualify with Megson & Fitzpatrick. They want full on alarm with invoice for proof of install if you live in shared parkade.

I'm using a Sola-Larm
SLA-835T

It has a two circuit passive immolbiliser
selectable active or passive alarm arming
tilt switch
integral shock sensor
auto battery back-up
valet mode

with lots of other features.

It works for me
