I hear Hope serves good coffee on Saturdays. In particular on March 7th.

Yeah you know what this is :p.

The forecasting people claim that Saturday will be rain-free, and I intend to take them up on it.

I'll be riding to Hope for some lunch, and am planning to do some exploring afterwards.

What's especially interesting is this "Jones Lake" road:
http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&hl=e...ode=0,49.302340,-121.785310&ll=49.282364,-121.585007&spn=0.061141,0.186768&z=13

Looks like a fun twisty road, and hopefully it's in good condition. I plan to drop by and check it out on the way back.

The master plan is as follows:

Meet at 10:30AM at the Chevron gas station at the intersection of Dewdney Trunk Rd and 232nd Street, in Maple Ridge: http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&hl=e...007645,0.030384&ie=UTF8&ll=49.220253,-122.579007&spn=0.003826,0.015192&t=h&z=17

Leave 10:45AM sharp. Hop on to Lougheed (#7) and head off for Hope. There are a couple "adventurous detours" we can make on the way. We'll decide whether we make these or not when we meet. They are as follows:

- Get off Lougheed at Hayward street, and follow Key Stone Ave -> Dewdney Trunk -> Ferndale -> Stave Lake St -> back to Lougheed.
http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&hl=e...007645,0.030384&ie=UTF8&ll=49.164476,-122.405376&spn=0.030644,0.121536&t=h&z=14

- Get off Lougheed at Seabird Island Rd and follow it to get back on
http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&hl=e...n=0.007645,0.030384&ie=UTF8&ll=49.252961,-121.732121&spn=0.030589,0.121536&z=14

From Harrison we'll go on #1 and get off at exit 153 to take a look at that Jones Lake Rd
http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&hl=e...n=0.007645,0.030384&ie=UTF8&ll=49.307665,-121.614876&spn=0.030555,0.121536&z=14

(this one is also debatable - we can always head back the way we came on the much more fun #7)

Pace : fairly slow - out to warm up for the season and enjoy the sights rather than the pavement (my 125 is also somewhat of a limiting factor ;)).

Reason: because I can, and it's too damn long until the 22nd.

Price: gas money; photos w/ me at $5/piece.

Note, that there is a chance we'll hit some rain, and if it gets bad we may turn back :).

That's another example of high Canadian pricing!:angel
Mention that you saw the price on BCSB and you get 3 for the price of 2! Wow!

:D

I might be into this, I will be out riding tomorrow and haven't decided where to go. I'll check this thread again in the morning.
I checked my backroads mapbook and jonas lake rd is listed as a forestry road so is probably gravel :surrender

hey Coaxial (and anyone else who may have shown up), sorry I didnt make it on time (late for my own ride!), I just got here a minute ago. Traffic was way worse than I expected, and the rain didnt help :(

Its raining quite a bit now, and even though im dry, it still takes away from the fun :(. ( damn forecast promised a dry day!!)

Probably going to head back now and try to hit some back roads...

Ah damn, I just got home :(.

Yep, it's definitely drying up and the sun peeked out a few times during my ride home. Don't think I'm gonna head out again today - my clutch hand is actually in pain. Damn $*#!#@ slow moving traffic!!!

Oh well, at least I got some fresh air.

now that I'm not posting from a cellphone...
so I got to dewdney and 232rd at about 10:40 and noticed there was no chevron, just a shell and an esso! I waited around a few minutes and figured I missed you so took a bit of a ghostrider run down Hwy 7 to see if I could catch up (and for fun). 200kmh on a naked bike confirmed my theory that it was a bit chilly and rainy out, stopped and got food in mission, a local suggested I check out sylvester Rd. which was pretty neat, by noon or so it stopped raining and was great out. Headed home via #7/albion/#1, and did a quick rip up to squamish and back. Great day of riding :coffee

looking forward to the harrison ride :D
